Lameness Examinations: We offer many lameness diagnostic and treatment services including diagnostic nerve and joint blocks, digital radiography and digital ultrasound. We may also refer cases for MRI evaluations if this becomes necessary to confirm a diagnosis.
Pre-Purchase Examinations: This is a detailed physical exam performed to determine the suitability of a sales prospect for the intended use of the buyer. The emphasis will be on the musculoskeletal system and the exam will include thorough palpation, flexion tests and observing the horse in work. Digital radiographs are often taken and if necessary a digital ultrasound can be performed as part of a pre-purchase examination.
Reproductive Services: We offer assistance with many aspects of breeding and pregnancy diagnosis. These include reproductive ultrasound, pregnancy evaluations, hormone analysis, artificial insemination, infertility evaluation and diagnostics, and neonatal medicine.
Shock Wave Therapy: We use shock wave therapy to treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions especially those involving tendons and ligaments. It has become an essential tool in the treatment of proximal suspensory injuries and as an aid to help prevent their recurrence. We have also found it very useful in the management of back pain including cases with kissing spine lesions. It provides a focused extracorporeal shock wave that increases blood supply to the area and stimulates the release of numerous substances involved in the normal healing process.
Digital Ultrasound: Is used to diagnose and monitor soft tissue injuries most commonly those involving tendons and ligaments. Digital ultrasound can also help view joints, bone surfaces, cartilage, sacro-iliac ligaments, and the articular processes of the vertebrae. We also frequently use ultrasound guidance to ensure the accurate placement of therapeutic injections and for certain diagnostic procedures such as biopsies of abdominal organs and collection of CSF.
Digital Radiology: Digital radiographs are processed instantaneously and can be viewed stall-side. State of art equipment allows imaging of virtually all body parts of even the largest horses.
Joint Injections: Are used to treat horses with osteoarthritis and joint inflammation resulting from normal wear and tear or trauma. A variety of products are used for joint injections depending on the individuals diagnosis and on which joints are being treated. They include regenerative therapies such as IRAP and PRP, hyaluronic acid, corticosteroids, and polyacrylamide hydrogels.
PRP: Is used to treat a variety of tendon, ligament, and more recently joint injuries. PRP is processed from your horses own blood to help with pain, reduce inflammation and improve mobility.
IRAP: Is used primarily to treat osteoarthritis. The process includes collecting the horse's blood and incubating it for 24 hours in a special syringe. After 24 hours the syringe is centrifuged and the serum is collected and filtered prior to injection.
